Geographical
Position
Kish Island
measuring 91.5 kilometers in area is situated 18 kilometers
south of Iran's southern coast and about 300 kilometers away
from the port city of Bandar Abbas.
Kish is almost
elliptical with an east-west length of 13 kilometers , and a 7
kilometer width running north-south . the Island's highest point
is its eastern part which rises about 45 meters above the sea
level. And , its relative high is 32 meters which means only 13
meters difference from its highest point
The Shores of
Kish Island
Kish Island has a
calm sea and beautiful coast . The coast in the northeast , west
and south wings is made of rock where the sea is also wavy due
to the wings blowing from the sea. Kish soil made of coral with
a silvery color dazzlingly shining under the sunlight . Such
specification may not be seen in many other coasts in the world
covered with gray sand .The sea water in Kish island is bright
and clear in a way that the bottom of the sea can be easily seen
from a very far distance . Kish coast is one of the least
dangerous coasts in the world .

Since there is no
dangerous shark in the sea , people can enjoy the water without
any danger threatening them . It should be noted that the
sharks which are some times seen in the Kish coasts , feed on
small fishes and are therefore no threat to people swimming
there . Kish coast is one of the exceptional coasts suitable
for aquatics both in winter and summer .
The Aqarium
Aquatic life in
the Persian Gulf is diverse. The clear water along the beach
gives tourists an easy view of the variety of fish species, some
of which are very interesting. You can even take a ride in a
glass-bottom boat and see the fish that swim a little further
away from the shore.
The Kish aquarium is located within the Art Center displaying a
variety of unique marine species of the Persian Gulf. If you
don't scuba dive to get a first hand view of the natural habitat
of the colorful fish, a visit to the aquarium will be the
alternative. We recommend that all tourists, especially children
and the youth, take the time to visit the aquarium.
The Hoor
Hut
The Hoor Hut,
meaning 'the Sun Hut', is a complex within which re-utilization
of outdated sources of energy is demonstrated. Here, solar
energy is utilized to desalinate the saline water wind-pumped
from the depths of the earth.
A variety of solar appliances are on display here and visitors
can even use them. The Hoor Hut is situated in the western part
of the island.

The malls are open from 09:00 to
13:00 and in the afternoons from 17:00 to 23:00(all days of the
week).

International Airport
Kish international airport is open
round the clock. One can fly from Kish Island to capital city
Tehran and almost to all centers of the provinces of the Islamic
Rep. Of Iran, including, Isfahan, Shiraz, Mash’hand, and Bander
Abbas, every day. There are daily regular flights from Kish
international airport to UAE and visa versa.
Drinking
Water and Electricity Voltage
1-Drinking water of the
Island is produced by desalinizators through RO
and MED systems. Therefore, one can take water from water tabs
for drinking. However, mineral and natural waters are sold in
bottles, too. One should be careful that water for irrigation is
not potable.
2-Kish
Island power generators are generating 220 volts with 60Hz.

History
of Kish
Kish
has a long history of about 3,000 years, being called under
various names such as Kamtina, Arakia, Arakata, and Ghiss in the
course of time. In 325 BC, Alexander the Great commissioned
Niarkus to set off an expedition voyage into the Sea of Oman and
the Persian Gulf. Niarkus's writings indicate that he visited
Araracta in the 4th century BC. His descriptions of Araracta
precisely match with the characteristics of Kish.

Climate
The weather in
Kish
island is warm and humid. The average
temperature is 27C and rarely surpasses 32C. July and August are
the hottest months and the temperature reaches its lowest in
January and February -- providing the most favorable climate for
the residents of the island. The lowest temperature never falls
blew 3C and that can be expected only a few days in the winter .
So, certain seasons make a trip to Kish even more pleasant, and
while it is cooler and humidity is less, the sea water is still
warm.

Thursdays and Fridays are holidays ).Kish has an international
airport and there are many flights from the Island to the major
cities of the mainland .
There are many daily flights to Tehran .Also
, Kish international airport has some direct flights to Dubai
and Sharjah.

excellent facilities can be hired at very reasonable prices,
such as Karaneh sports club , a fully equipped health spa, which
is located at the northern side of the Island.
Sports
Complexes
The Olympic complex is the largest in Kish. It is comprised of a
football field, tennis courts, swimming pools, volleyball and
basketball courts and facilities for many other sports. For easy
access to sports facilities, 4 volleyball courts have also been
built in different locations. Four additional small and standard
size football fields are also available. These are situated near
Marjan Bazaar, Saffain District, The Water & Electricity Supply
Co. and the Art Center.
Cycling Track
Kish island has over 50 km cycling track,
which stretches all around the island .Cycling is a popular
sport in Kish and public cycling days are arranged by K.F.Z.O.
in order to encourage people to cycle. Also private regular and
electric bike rental stations are available.
Glider flights
Kish Gliding School opened in 1996. It is one the branches of
Civil Aviation Training Center (C.A.T.C) which is a member of
International Civil Aviation Organization (I.C.A.O). It issues
flying licenses and is located in Hormoz square.
Horseback riding club
Kish horseback riding club is located in
the northern section of the island, in the Olympic village.
Horse-racing is a favorite sport in Kish &
races are held throughout wintertime .Kish horseback Riding club
has a clinic.
Scuba
Diving
Diving is an ideal sport in Kish Island because of the exquisite
coral reefs and rare fish species. The Kish Diving School offers
also Padi courses with certificate for divers. Interested
tourists can experience the world of underwater and its wonders.
Marine
Sports Club
This club is located in the north-eastern side of the Island.
The modern facilities and marine sports equipment of Kish Marina
club include : Jet ski, water ski, parachute, yachts & sailboat,
scuba diving and windsurfing, etc.
Tennis
courts and Sports Facilities
Sports facilities in Kish are highly revered. Kish Sports
Complex has six tennis courts and an international tennis
stadium, which is located in the Olympic village at the northern
part of the Island.
